But does it have to be?
For years youth coaches have discussed the difference between playing while injured and playing while sore; telling players that “soreness” is just part of baseball. The problem is many youth baseball players have no idea if they are injured or sore. If your son is hurting, that pain will have a negative impact on their performance. dōTERRA’s Deep Blue family of products contains a proprietary blend of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) essential oils designed to provide targeted comfort to sore joints and muscles.
Hello, my name is Jon, my wife Allyson and I are Independent Product Consultants for dōTERRA. Our son Cody, who plays in the RMSB super league, is a huge fan of Deep Blue. In addition to RMSB, Cody participates in track, basketball and football. When we first used Deep Blue on Cody during football season he wasn’t a believer in the idea of essential oils for pain relief. However, that changed quickly. Now whenever he’s experiencing soreness from athletics he doesn’t even ask, he just applies Deep Blue to his sore body parts; especially his arm and shoulder.
To better understand why Deep Blue works it is helpful to know the basics of CPTG essential oils. Essential oils are the aromatic compounds found in the seeds, leaves, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. The oils are most often extracted from the plant via a low-heat steam distillation process. CPTG is dōTERRA’s own standard for ensuring a 100% pure essential oil; this is accomplished via independent 3rd party testing.

Allyson’s Sprained Ankle
The following is taken from Allyson’s Facebook wall on 4-3-12. I included it because it’s a great example of the therapeutic benefits of Deep Blue.

Allyson – My foot on Friday. [3-30-12] Stepped on a rock while jogging and rolled it pretty darn hard. But I was able to kind of walk it off and make it home… Then I decided it was fine, and I could go on a long walk with Jon. Dumb. So very dumb. |
In addition to the Deep Blue oil, we also used Deep Blue Rub to treat her ankle. The Rub is Cody’s preferred method of using Deep Blue before and after games.
Deep Blue Rub is different than the Deep Blue blend, as it is a topical cream that is longer lasting when applied. In fact one of the main uses of the Rub is for deep tissue massage. In addition to the 5ml of Deep Blue essential oils it is also contains:
- Menthol – to provide a cooling effect
- Eucalyptus – a temporary fast acting anti-inflammatory agent
- Capsicum Frutescens Fruit Extract – warms by triggering heat receptors in surface tissues
With Allyson’s ankle we applied the Deep Blue essential oils first, then applied the Deep Blue Rub. Next we placed a warm damp rag over the sprain to force the oils into the skin. After that we went with the traditional R.I.C.E. treatment and ibuprofen. Since this was an acute issue as opposed to a chronic issue we were very aggressive with the application of both Deep Blue products; typically every hour for the first ten or so hours.
As you can see from the photo, her ankle was pretty swollen but what you can’t tell is how painful it was for her. We had to borrow crutches from a neighbor because she could’t put any weight on it at all. Nevertheless, the next morning she was able to put a small amount of weight onto her ankle and with continued treatment of Deep Blue she was back to normal in a little over four days.
